Homemade chocolates

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Do you have a sweet tooth? How about satisfying it with some healthier candy for both your kids and yourself. I discovered how easy it was to make these when I discovered my son had a lot of food sensitivities and I needed to do things a little differently. He still wanted some treats just like everybody else and I wanted that for him as well but in a healthier, safer way. So this recipe is super versatile so you can substitute what you need too.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Chocolate of some sort (you can use cocoa, cacoa, carob, or whatever suits your needs. I've use this carob and this dairy free chocolate).

1/4 cup Coconut oil (the solid kind)

1-2 drops of essential oil (optional but it adds flavor to them), I like to use orange, peppermint, or cinnamon.

Directions:

In a double boiler (or a pot with water on the bottom and a bowl over that not touching the water) melt the coconut oil and chocolate together until completely melted. Remove from heat and add essential oils if using. stir quickly then pour using a measuring cup into molds. You can do this with candy molds or

. Put in the freezer for at least an hour to harden. Carefully push the chocolates out and enjoy! Store in the refrigerator.
